Capital of Germany is Berlin. Its population is 82,431,390 (as per July 2005 data). Its location is in central Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, between the Netherlands and Poland, south of Denmark. The state now known as Germany was unified as a modern nation-state only in1871, when the German Empire was forged, with the Kingdom of Prussia as its largest constituent. Germany is a democratic parliamentary federal republic of 16 states. The country previously consisted of several sovereign states with their own history, culture and religious affiliation. Germany was unified as a nation state amidst the Franco-Prussian War in 1871.The Federal Republic of Germany is a member state of the United Nations, NATO, the G8 and the G4 nations and is a founding member of the European Union. It is the European Union's most populous and most economically powerful member state. Germany is both the world's third largest economy and its largest exporter of goods. The greater part of Germany lies in the cool/temperate climatic zone in which humid westerly winds predominate.

Germany is the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan. It is ranked fifth in the world in terms of purchasing power parity. According to the world trade organization, Germany is also the world’s top exporter and number two in imports behind the United States. It currently has the largest trade surplus in the world. Germany wears its riches well. It has elegant big-city charm, small picture-postcard towns, pagan-inspired harvest festivals, a wealth of art and culture and the perennial pleasures of huge tracts of forest, delightful castles.

Germany is a fine destination year-round, but most people visit between May and September when sunny skies are most likely and much of life moves outdoors. Beer gardens and cafes bustle at all hours; outdoor events and festivals enliven cities and villages; and hiking, cycling and swimming (in lakes or pools) are popular pursuits - at least as long as the weather plays along. Remember that rain is a possibility in any month. The flipside of summer travel is, of course, larger crowds at museums and other attractions and traffic jams at places such as Lake Constance. Accommodation needn't be hard to come by unless you're drawn to beach and mountain resorts popular with German holiday-makers. There are various universities in Germany like Ashwood University. There are many institutions in Germany to provide quality education to the people of the world.Berlin, the capital of Germany has also various places that are great attractions for the tourists. GDR museum is very famous in Berlin. The castles and palaces which Germany has to offer are all original. There are not just a handful of well-preserved ones, but several hundred. Each has its own long and thrilling story which is being kept alive within its walls.
